Workshop Descriptions

Workshop 1 — Leaves of Light: Tea Lumen Printing
Guided by artist Xinyue, this session introduces lumen printing, an experimental photographic process using light, tea leaves, and photographic paper. Participants will create delicate, one-of-a-kind images where leaves, light, and time leave their trace. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity and patience.

Workshop 2 — Threads of Tea: Weaving a Tea Towel
Led by textile artist Weiyi, this workshop introduces loom weaving as a meditative practice. Participants will learn basic weaving techniques and slowly create their own handwoven tea towel — a functional yet poetic object to enrich everyday rituals.

About the Artists

Weiyi
London-based textile artist (MA Textile Design, Chelsea College of Arts). Her work explores memory, identity, and emotional labour through weaving, natural dyeing, and Chinese craft traditions. She is also the co-founder of TearSlaly, an interdisciplinary collective merging textiles and photography.

Xinyue
London-based artist (RCA Photography) working across photography, performance, and experimental forms. Her practice investigates time, memory, and the unconscious through light-sensitive processes, and she often collaborates across disciplines to create community-based workshops and shared experiences.

The Tea

Participants will be served Taiwanese Osmanthus Oolong, a lightly roasted high-mountain tea blended with dried osmanthus blossoms. Known for its golden liquor, floral fragrance, and smooth, lingering finish, it is traditionally enjoyed in autumn — refreshing yet comforting, the perfect companion to an afternoon of craft.

Collaboration

This event is presented by HereThe in collaboration with TearSlaly and BeingSync, bringing together tea, craft, and community in London.
This is a part of the exhibition Wandering Till the Wind Whispers My Land, curated by Daisy Di Wang and BeingSync, this workshop treats tea as both material and metaphor—an element carrying memory, intimacy, and ritual across time and distance.
